Blade front and groove rear sights, with the top of the barrel marked "W. JENKS" and "U.S.N/RP/P/1847/CAST-STEEL", "6/37" on the breech arm, "362" inside the primer door, and "REMINGTON'S/HERKIMER/N.Y." on the lock plate behind the primer. Fitted with a saddle ring on the rear trigger guard finial, two brass barrel bands, and a smooth straight grip stock with a faint cartouche opposite the lock and a flat brass buttplate.
