U.S. Remington Civil War Model 1863 Zouave Percussion Rifle with Bayonet
Manufactured from 1862 to 1865. Blade front and three leaf rear sights, with "US / VP / eagle head GP" and "STEEL / BH" markings at the rear of the barrel. Lock plate and tang are dated 1863, with the "American eagle / REMINGTON'S / ILION N.Y." followed by "U.S." and "P" on the lock plate. Smooth straight grip stock with a brass forearm tip, 2 barrel bands, patch box and smooth "U.S." marked buttplate. The left stock flat has two cartouches. Complete with a bayonet marked "397" on the handle with a brass tip and throat leather sheath. F.W. Roebling III collection tag is affixed to the trigger guard.

Condition: Very fine. The barrel retains 90% original blue finish with some minor thinning and some minor spotting. The lock and hammer have a mixed gray patina. The brass shows evidence of being polished at one time with remnants of a protective coating. The stock is fine with an exception of a minor crack on the forearm, a hairline crack near the lock plate and a large chip missing near the forearm tip, along with some minor dings and scratches. The bayonet is very good with the cleaned and sharpened blade having some minor pitting. The sheath has overall age cracking.
