U.S. Property Marked Remington Model 40X Target/Sniper Rifle with Scope
These rifles were produced in the mid-late 1960s under contract to the US Army and were used as the standard target rifle for all small bore shooting competitions during that time. This rifle has a heavy weight barrel with sight bases and is equipped with a Unertl scope adjustable for windage and elevation with mounts attached to receiver. The left receiver wall is marked "REMINGTON MODEL 40-X" and the left side of the receiver ring is marked "U.S. PROPERTY / 22 LONG RIFLE" over the serial number. Smooth pistol grip stock with a black anodized hand stop rail and hand stop on the underside, buttstock sling swivel and a serrated White Line buttpad. Complete with Civilian Marksmanship receipt and certificate of authenticity.

Condition: Fine. The rifle retains 90% original blue finish with some minor muzzle wear, some minor scratches, and a patch of cold blue on the left side of the receiver around the tapped receiver sight mount holes (now absent). The stock is very good with minor pressure dings and scratches with some minor alterations on the front of the pistol grip with some additional varnish added. The scope has clear optics.
