U.S. Model 1917 bolt action military issue rifle by Eddystone Arsenal in near fine condition packed in cosmoline or military grease, serial number 578660. The barrel shows “Eddystone Arsenal” marking along with firebomb and 4 – 18 date. Themetal surfaces retain most of the original blue under a coating of thick grease. The stock is very good plus to near fine with two sharp cartouches showing Eagle heads just ahead of trigger guard and behind trigger guard with numbers 359 and 301and a small “B” or “R”. There is also a “N” stamp just below the action and top of the wood. The interior shows little to no use and is packed with grease as is the bore. An exceptional 1917 that looks like it will clean to fine or excellent butat the least very good plus. Est.: $500-$1,000
