U.S. Model 1898 Krag rifle by Springfield Armory remaining in very good plus to near fine original condition, serial number 465595. The barrel shows 75% to 85% original blue finish aging and toning nicely. The action, side plate and loading doorretain 75% plus original case hardened colors that are still colorful. The stock shows an “A 11” military style stamping near the butt plate on the right side. The left side of the stock shows a sharp 1903 full cartouche with a well-defined “P”proof behind the trigger guard. The rifle shows correct sights, small parts and bands. The stock shows a few dings, mars and scratches but is also at least very good plus overall. The action is good and the bore is bright. William A. Garyinventory card indicates this model of Krag adopted and used by Marines during the Philippine insurrection. William A. Gary collection consigned by his estate. Est.: $800-$1600
