This is an early US Cavalry Ammunition Belt Model 1876 and Cavalry pin from the Indian Wars in the 19th Century. The belt features 54 belt loops for .45-70 Gov’t Carbine Rifle cartridges. Provenance: This is from an early American History private collection in Connecticut and is believed to have been used by a Plains Native American Indian. This early belt was adopted for US Cavalry use in 1876. The narrow design most likely makes this a first year production of the M1876 cartridge belt and is considered very scarce valuable. Also included is a rare Civil War to Indian Wars circa 1860-1890 era copper Cavalry crossed swords 1K pin. Also rare to show the original brass buckle and loops. The pin measures 1 3/8"x2 3/8". Belt is 44.25"L from buckle to end. Buckle is 2 1/8"x2 3/8".
