U.S. Model 1863, .58 caliber rifled musket by Springfield Armory dated 1864 remaining in very good plus to near fine original condition. The metal surfaces show considerable original bright arsenal polish with some light cleaning that hasbeen professionally done. There is slight beginning staining and minor beginning rust. The markings are very sharp and clear with good Eagle markings on both lock and bolster. The breech shows 1864 date along with the P and Eagle proofsall of which are good and sharp. The sight shows original quenched blue arsenal finish. The stock is also very good plus to near fine with some storage type dings, minor mars, scratches and only a few very minor losses along the ramrod channel. There are also a few bruises and bumps around the butt plate area. The stock shows two good clear cartouches on the left side above the trigger. The bore is sharp with crisp rifling.
