U.S. Model 1861 Navy conversion to .38 centerfire with U.S. Naval inspection, R.W. M. and anchor on barrel, (Richard W. Meade, U.S. Naval Shipyard N.Y.) Serial #4137. The conversion shows 60-80% dull original arsenal finish applied at time of conversion with light markings and barrel address, and faint traces of cylinder scene. The frame shows 20-40% case hardening with sharp 1871/72 patent dates. The grips are good with somenicks, mars at the edges, small losses consistent with military storage and use. All matching numbers and all correct small parts. Bright and sharp bore. These Navy marked conversions are scarce and desirableto collectors. Est: $4,000 - $8,000
