U.S. Model 1861 2.9” parrot rifle on #1 field carriage, serial 198. The muzzle is arsenal marked 198-10 PDR and trunnons shows 1862 date. The right trunnion shows US Inspector’s markings RPP and WPF” and light marking 835. Muzzle is marked “Patented 1861”. The tube shows some pitting and repainting but generally good overall with mostly visible markings. The tube sits on an excellent quality reproduction carriage. The iron tube measures approx. 78” long, gun measures approx. 12’ muzzle to end. The wheels measure approx 81” across. These desirable canon were all cast at the West Point foundry under the supervision of Robert T. Parrot and they were effectively used during the Civil war. A very attractive original tube on an expertly reproduced carriage. 1 of approx. 935 made and survey indicates approx. 125 extant. With accessories and grease bucket.
