U.S. Model 1855, .58 caliber three band percussion rifled musket made by Springfield Armory with Maynard tape primer device and 40” round barrel. This rifle remains in good to very good original condition showing very sharp markings withbeautiful Eagle stamped at center portion of tape primer door. The lock and breech are dated 1858. The metal surfaces show light cleaning to bright with some original bright finish mixed in with polishing. The stock is fair to good with somelarge losses of wood in the front of the stock in the area of the ramrod channel and also some small dings, mars and scratches and some minor losses along top edge of stock where it meets the barrel. Also there is some wood filler in the left rearof butt stock. The spring is inside the tape primer mechanism and all parts are operating correctly. This rifle retains an original style ramrod.
