U.S. Model 1842 single shot box lock martial pistol by N.P. Ames with U.S.N. marking and 1842 at the rear area of the lock. The barrel is stamp J.C.R. over P on the left side of the breech. The metal surfaces show light to slightly heavyscattered pitting and erosion with tight associated with naval use. The stock is good with some light cleaning, small losses and a couple of cracks but generally good overall. The brass mounts show a dark patina. The ramrod and swivelappear original and the front edge of the hammer has been broken off and is missing. Refer Flayderman 6A-046. The collection of William A. Gary consigned by his estate.
