U.S. Model 1836 Flintlock Johnson Contract Pistol
This flintlock pistol is one of approximately 18,000 Model 1836 pistols manufactured by Robert Johnson of Middletown, Connecticut between 1836 and 1844. Standard U.S./Johnson lock plate markings with the date 1838. Inspection and proof marks are stamped on the left rear of the barrel. The left stock flat is marked with two clear oval cartouches.

Condition: Fine. The metal surfaces have been cleaned bright and there is some scattered minor pitting, with some deeper pitting on the backstrap. The stock is very fine with some minor dings and scratches. The cartouches are clear. Mechanically excellent.
