U.S. Model 1819 Hall/Harpers Ferry Breech Loading Percussion Conversion Rifle

The Model 1819 Hall Rifle was the first breech loading weapon adopted as a regulation weapon and the first firearm successfully produced with completely interchangeable parts. This example was manufactured by Harpers Ferry and later was converted to percussion. This rifle has a casehardened breechblock that now has limited traces of the Harpers Ferry marking with a date that appears to be "1838". The stock has three pinned fastened barrel bands.
