U.S. Model 1817 Flintlock Rifle
Also known as the "Common Rifle", this model was manufactured from 1817 to the early 1840s by several different manufacturers. This particular rifle has no manufacturer or date normally found on the lock. The rifle has the characteristics of the 1817 including the 36" round, 54 caliber, seven grooved rifled barrel, spur on the lower tang with a sling swivel, barrel not made for a bayonet, iron ramrod with brass trumpet head and oval patch box on the right side of the stock. The only visible markings are "GF / P / US" on the left rear of the barrel. The rifle is mounted with a full straight grip stock secured by three barrel bands with a sling swivel on the middle band and flat, unmarked buttplate. The left stock flat is stamped "V / GF".

Condition: Good. The metal surfaces have a smooth silver gray patina. There is a small amount of minor oxidation on the front barrel bands and left side of the barrel. The stock is fine as refinished with a coat of varnish. There is signs of some light sanding and overall a few minor dents, and dings. The action is excellent.
