U.S. Model 1816 North with F. Persignon conversion to percussion utilizing distinctive hammer and bolster attributed to this Virginia gunsmith who was located near Richmond and who converted arms for the Confederacy. See “Confederate Rifles and Muskets”, by Murphy, page 568 for reference on similarly altered long arms. The pistol remains in original good condition showing a dark brown patina finish, some scattered pitting and erosion but generally uncleaned and untouched metal surfaces. A metal rod and keeper similar to Aston also added. The stock is in good to very good condition showing a trace of cartouche, some minor dings, mars and scratches. A sophisticated and desirable Confederate alteration. Est.: $3,500-$7,000.
