The gun shows PV and eagle proofs on left side of breech, 1810 date by rear of lock, no Springfield eagle ever stamped on the lockplate; with very good+ stock showing clear U. S. cartouche in fancy script letters just behind thesideplate on left side of stock. The metal surfaces show some light to moderate scattered pitting and erosion, with good crisp edges, good markings and generally very good+ overall. The lock is in its originalflintlock configuration, with proper hammer, frizzen and small parts. The stock shows some minor losses at the edges, some dings, mars, minor imperfections, but at least very good+ overall; with an old originalto-the-period horn tipped ramrod included; the brass mounts show a good patina. These are a very desirable and seldom encountered U. S. martial collector's item, of which less than 10% are in their original flintlock
