U.S. Merchants counterstamped group lot, included are
<B>Counterstamped Silver U.S. Merchants Group Lot.</B></I> Included are two silver pieces. The first is a well-known Stone & Ball Syracuse N.Y. counterstamp on an 1854 With Arrows Seated quarter. This a Type One piece, listed as Rulau-NY1027D. The second piece was counterstamped by R Flanagan Punch 112 N. 6th St. on a silver two real coin, described in Rulau as Miller Pa163. Robert Flanagan operated the Lyons Hotel in Philadelphia in 1837, and inside the hotel was a drinking establishment called the Vulcan Hall. The Lyons Hotel was situated at the address on the token from 1835 to 1857; it moved to 156 N. 6th St. in 1858. These interesting counterstamps have a current catalog value of about $300-$400.
