U.S. Marked Model Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Factory Letter
This revolver features a blade front and frame notch rear sights with the early donut shaped or "Bulls-Eye" ejector rod head. The top of the barrel is remarked with the one line address with dashes at each end, the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, two patent date marking followed by "U.S." and the complete matching serial number is marked on the frame, trigger guard and backstrap, and the partial serial number "4213" is marked on the barrel under the ejector rod housing and on the cylinder. The restamped small inspector markings "J.T.C." and "P" are marked on the bottom of the barrel just ahead of the cylinder pin and on the cylinder and "L.D." is stamped on the bottom of the frame above the serial number. The revolver is fitted with smooth one piece walnut grips with a unreadable boxed cartouche on the lower left side. A large "X" has been crudely period carved into the right side. The accompanying factory letter verifies that a single Action Army revolver with serial number 34213 was shipped at a 45 Colt caliber with blue finish, 7 1/2" barrel length and grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped in a shipment of 200 to the U.S. Government inspector at the Colt Plant on January 31, 1877.

Refinished/remarked. The metal surfaces have a smooth artifical brown patina. There are a few minor dings in the flutes of the cylinder. The grips are very good with exception of above mentioned marking, with a few scattered minor dings and dents, and a hand rubbed patina. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine.
