U.S. Marked Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Serial Number 18 Revolver

The top of the barrel has the one line New York address and the barrel has an aftermarket German silver blade front sight. The cylinder has the Navy battle scene, the "COLTS PATENT No." marking followed by the number "18" and the letters "T" and "K" at the rear. The left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT/U.S." The number "18" is stamped on the brass trigger guard, brass back strap and cylinder. The frame, barrel, barrel wedge and loading lever are not numbered (barrel serial number has been ground off). The back strap has the letter "C" and the trigger guard has the letter "K". Fitted with an unmarked one-piece smooth walnut grip. Collectors usually agree that this gun was marketed by Stokes-Kink from surplus parts acquired from the U.S. Government.

Very good as partially refinished (barrel) and assembled (see above). The barrel retains traces of blue finish in and around the protected areas with an artificial dark patina on the balance. The loading lever, frame and hammer retain 30% original case colors. The cylinder has a smooth gray patina with most of the Navy battle scene remaining. The brass grip straps have a bright appearance. The slightly undersized grip is very good with a couple missing small chips at the bottom and some minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
