U.S. Model 1876 Cartridge Belt, by Watervliet Arsenal. This narrow belt variation is approx. 42'' long with a body width of 2'' and features 54 belt loops for .45 Gov't or Carbine rifle cartridges, with a varnished brass slightly curved center bar-frame buckle. This early belt was adopted for Cavalry and Infantry use in 1876. This narrow belt is probably the first production of the 1876 cartridge belt, as it is considerably more scarce and much less seldom observed than the later wide belt variations that were first seen in 1879. Condition is fine with minor darkening from age. Also included is an original sealed box of 20 rounds of .45-70 dating from June 1881 by the Frankford Arsenal. Est.: $800-$1,200.
