U.S. Johnson Contract Model 1842 Percussion Pistol
Marked "US / I.N. JOHNSON" on the lock plate in front of the hammer, "MIDDTN / CONN / 1855" vertically at the rear. The tang is dated 1852 and the breech end of the barrel is marked "US / WN / P". Brass mountings, brass blade front sight, swivel type steel ramrod with a button head and mounted with a one piece walnut stock absent of any cartouche or inspection marks. Approximately 10,000 of these pistols were manufactured between 1853-1855.

Condition: Fine. The barrel has been lightly cleaned and shows a few small areas of minor oxidation. The lock and hammer have a smooth mottled gray patina. The brass has an aged patina with a protective coating. There are several small dings on the trigger guard. The stock is also fine with a few overall scattered minor dings, dents and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
