Blade front and Lawrence patent ladder rear sights, with "SHARP'S RIFLE/MANUFG. CO./HARTFORD CONN" and "NEW MODEL 1863" on top of the barrel, and "T.W.B." on the left. The lock is marked above the hammer "R.S. LAWRENCE PAT./APRIL 12th 1859", behind the hammer "C. SHARPS PAT./OCT. 8th 1858" and on the left side of the receiver "C.SHARPS PAT. /SEPT. 12th 1848" marking. Smooth straight wrist stock with a metal forend cap, three barrel bands, sling swivels, a pair of oval cartouches on the left side of the wrist, "A.W.H." on the comb, patch box and a smooth buttplate marked "M" on the heel. With an original leather sling.

Condition: Very fine, with 75% of the faded original blue with overall light spotting, and a mix of smooth brown and silver gray patina on the receiver. The lock shows strong faded original case colors with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The hammer has a smooth gray patina and the lever has a smooth dark patina. The wood is fine with wear appropriate to a Civil War weapon that saw it's share of action. The sling is poor, with the hook detached, repairs, and a number of cracks and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
