U.S. Inland M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine
This is an nice example of a late WWII M1Carbine that was produced by Inland which has been fitted with the M1A1 Paratrooper carbine folding stock. The carbine is marked on the front receiver "US CARBINE / CAL 30 M1" and on the rear of the receiver under the rear sight it is marked "INLAND DIV" over "5545626". The barrel is marked "INLAND MFG. DIV./ GENERAL MOTORS / 9-44". The folding paratrooper stock has the original GI metal folding buttplate with the correct cast in part number of "8257614" with the original folding metal frame and leather cheek piece. The handguard and pistol grip are made of walnut and the forend/stock assembly is made from birch, and the bottom of the pistol grip is marked on the bottom, "RI-3" with a small crossed cannon cartouche on the right side which may indicate a Korean war replacement. It has the late war improvements such as the type III barrel band with the bayonet lug, round bolt, flip safety, milled adjustable rear sight and the four rivet hand guard. It is complete with an Korean war era GI canvas or web sling. Consignor states this was purchased from the Estate of WWII 101st Paratrooper Sargent John Henninger.
BBL: 18 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 30 M1 Carbine
Finish: parkerized
Grips:
Serial Number: 5545626

Excellent overall with 98% of the arsenal parkerized finish, with most of the wear on the edges and high spots and the bolt body itself. The wood is in excellent condition overall with the typical pressure dent or ding on the left side of the stock from the folding buttplate. A very nice example of a late WWII arsenal refurbished M1A1 paratrooper carbine.
