U.S. Infantry Officer's Eagle Head Saber with Scabbard
Early Federal Period Eagle Head Officer's Saber with heavy, curved 28-inch single fuller blade. The blade has niter blue panels that are dry-etched with an American Eagle and Shield with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" in a ribbon and "WARRANTED" in the obverse and military trophies on the reverse. The etching is gold washed. The hilt has a brass pommel and knuckle guard with divided counter guard and reeded ebony grip. The black leather scabbard has a brass throat, suspension band and tip with two small suspension rings and a frog gild. This English made sword dates from the early 1800's.

Good. The blade has about 30% of the niter blue finish with light engraving. The brass hilt has an unpolished aged patina, with light cracks visible on the grip. The scabbard is good, with some flaking and scuffing on the leather and dings on the fittings, which show strong traces of finish.
