Featured in this lot for bidding is a set of five original U.S. Indian Service buttons, manufactured by the Tiffany & Co. out of New York, New York. These early copper buttons were worn by the Indian Service between 1854 to 1868. The Indian Service was comprised of US military members serving on United States Indian Reservations. The buttons show the standard "long neck" eagle, and read "U.S. Indian Service" on the front, and "Tiffany & Co. - New York" on the backs. The buttons show good, original condition, with nice verdigris forming on the copper surface. Each button measures 7/8" across.
