The 6" x 3" plaque affixed certifies that "<I>This Flag traveled on/ Apollo X/ with the first LM to the moon/ May 18-26 1969/ Presented to MSgt Joe D. Garino Jr./ by/ Col. T.P. Stafford USAF/ Cmdr. E.A. Cernan USN/ Cmdr. J.W. Young USN.</B></I>" Apollo 10 was the dress rehearsal for the moon landing. The Lunar Module (LM) was taken to within 10 miles of the lunar surface.
