U.S. Flag Carried on the moon by Neil Armstrong
U.S. Flag Carried on the Moon by Neil Armstrong! Affixed to a 12" x 14" wooden shield plaque is a 6" x 3.75" U.S. flag and the Apollo 11 patch, covered in clear plastic. The 5" x 3" metallic plaque affixed certifies that "This flag was carried on the moon by/ astronaut Neil Armstrong/ on July 20, 1969/ and presented to/ Joe D. Garino Jr./ by/ The Apollo 11 Astronauts." On the red stripe at the lower edge of the flag is lightly penned, possibly by Armstrong, "Garino - Gemini VIII - Apollo XI," indicating that this flag was to be presented to Garino ostensibly for the physical training Garino gave Armstrong for his Gemini and Apollo missions. The Apollo 11 astronauts left the Lunar Module once. Neil Armstrong took his first step on the moon on July 20, 1969, at 10:56 PM EDT. As he set foot on the lunar surface, carrying this flag, he said, "That's one small step for a man; one giant leap for mankind." From the collection of renowned former physical trainer of the astronauts Joe Garino. This lot is accompanied by a signed certificate of authentication from Garino verifying its provenance.

Shipping: Flat Material, Large (view shipping information)
