Manufactured circa 1830 to 1831. This is one of less than 1,000 Model 1826 Navy Pistols manufactured by W.L. Evans of Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. The rear of the flintlock lock plate is marked "1831/USN" in two vertical lines and the area ahead of the hammer is marked with an eagle head above "W.L. Evans/V.FORGE". Top of barrel at the breech is faintly marked "USN/P". Smooth stock with "P" and "GZ" stamps on the left side with swivel ramrod, belt hook and iron buttcap.

Condition: Very good as possibly arsenal refurbished. The pistol has remnants of a heat blued finish, over draw filing, with has mostly turned a mottled brown patina with some scattered mild pitting. The front sight has been repositioned. The varnished stock has a couple hairline cracks, a minor crack near the side plate and some minor handling marks.
