U.S. Eagle Head officer’s sword circa approx. 1820 to 1840’s. Showing checkered bone/ivory grip. Gilt over brass mounts. Fancy D-guard, blue and gilt blade. The blade measures 31”, the sword 36” overall. The blade measures 1-1/4” across the ricasso. The blade remains in very good condition with 30-50% thinning blue and gold gilt. Some erosion and pitting towards the forward half, a couple of small nicks, but generally very good overall. The scabbard and mounts show an uncleaned patina with rich traces of gold gilt drifting to patina. A few minor dings, dents, small marks, in scabbard- but generally very good overall. A slightly fancy hilt. Est: $600 - $1,200
