U.S. Confederate Stamps 1863, Poignant Sold
U.S. Confederate Stamps 1863, Poignant Soldier's Letter from Tullahuma, Tennessee with the original cover franked by a Scott 11. The two page letter is what is important as it is written to his wife in Alabama in a fashion that makes one believe that he figured never to see her again. He notes that he has sent a piece of his "cadet gray" uniform, probably as a keep sake for his wife. He also complains about "Confederate paper" (money) "almost no money at all, we can't purchase anything with it... We are in Lincoln's country, two Lincolnites to one Confederate citizen in this portion of Tenn.... Stonewall Jackson is dead... He was wounded by his own men through mistake...", talks of murder, love triangle and more. A wonderful letter with one small moth hole and split along fold. Estimate US$100-150
