U. S. Colt Single Action. S/N 30994, circa 1876-77, .45 LC, U. S. Cavalry purchase, 7 1/2" barrel, correct block one line barrel address, correct ejector housing and rod head, type II hammer knurling, J. T. Cleveland inspected. Bottom of barrel marked “5 CAV.” CONDITION: Overall soft gray finish, clear JTC on frame, area of barrel behind 5 CAV mark has been marked by someone trying to get cylinder pin removed, US and patent marks are faint, all numbers match, very good walnut grips are slightly undersized. In 1876 and 1877 the 5th Cavalry was active in the Southwest, then in the Dakotas, Montana and Wyoming.
