U.S. Colt Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Factory Letter
According to the included factory letter, this pistol was one of 750 shipped to the Commanding Officer of Springfield Armory on September 6, 1913. Fixed sights, with the two line, two block Colt address and patent marks and the Rampant Colt on the left side, and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY" on the right. The frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the left side ahead of the Walter G. Penfield inspection mark. Equipped with a wide checkered hammer, short grip safety, long milled trigger, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard, walnut grips with diamond patterns, lanyard base magazine and a Colt barrel with "P H" marks on the chamber.
