There were approximately 50,000 Colt Commandos manufactured between 1942 and 1945 for use during World War II. This revolver was manufactured circa 1942-43. The left side of the barrel is marked "COLT COMMANDO / 38 SPECIAL", the top is marked with the two line address/patent dates and the upper left side of the frame is marked 'G.H.D. / ordnance bomb". The butt is marked "MASS" designating issue to the Massachusetts National Guard. Fitted with brown plastic checkered grips with Rampant Colt molded at the tops. Complete with a plain two piece cardboard box with cleaning brush and manual.

Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 99% original parkerized finish with some minor muzzle wear, some minor scuffs, (mostly on the cylinder), a few minor dings, some wear on the left side of the frame below the cylinder and a noticeable drag line on the cylinder. The grips are also excellent with a few minor handling marks. The markings are clear. The action is excellent. The box is good with oil stains and a tear on the body and lid from the hammer.
