U.S. Colt Cavalry Model Single Action Army Revolver with Kopec Authentication and Factory Letters

According to the included factory letter, this revolver was one of 95 delivered to the Government Inspector on October 16, 1882. Also included is a letter from noted authority John Kopec, which confirms the production date, declares that the revolver is authentic in every respect in his opinion, and notes that although the National Archives do not list the revolver's fate by serial number, and posits that its status as a Cavalry configuration in a block of revolvers that were nearly entirely subjected to Artillery Conversion suggest that it was issued to a State militia unit, with Alabama and Mississippi cited as candidates. Fixed sights, with the one-line address on top of the barrel, "D.F.C." (David F. Clark) sub-inspectors marks on the barrel, frame, and cylinder, and matching numbers on the barrel, frame, grip straps and cylinder. Fitted with a bull's-eye ejector rod head and a smooth one piece grip.
