U.S. Colt  Black Army  Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Savage Slide
Late 1918 Colt Model 1911 Automatic pistol with the wartime, "Black Army", finish. This pistol was manufactured in the last block of contract pistols in 1918. The left side of the frame is marked: "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and the eagle head over "S12" above the magazine release. The left side of the Savage slide is marked "PATENTED DEC 19. 1905 / FEB. 14. 1911. AUG.19. 1913 / COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO." followed by the flaming ordnance bomb with an "S" in the center. The lower rear, left side of the trigger guard bow is marked "68". The serial number is on the right side of the frame preceded by "No" and the right side of the slide is marked "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY". Checkered slide stop, thumb safety, magazine release and wide spur hammer, flat mainspring housing with lanyard ring on the heel, unmarked blue magazine and fitted with checkered walnut grips with diamond pattern around the screws.

Condition: Refinished with most of the dark blue finish remaining and showing scattered minor pitting under the finish. The grip straps have a smooth brown patina. The grips are good with some moderate wear to the otherwise crisp checkering and some minor dents and nicks. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
