U.S. Colt Artillery Model Single Action Army Revolver with Factory Letter

According to the Colt factory ledgers (2 letters included) the frame of this revolver was presented to the Government Inspector on August 17, 1883. Later, it was arsenal/factory converted to the Artillery Model. Fixed sights, with the one line elongated block Hartford address, "D.F.C." (David F. Clark) stamps on the barrel, frame and grip, "J.T.C." (J.T. Cleveland) cylinder with no visible number, "A" (Orville Ainsworth) front strap numbered "5048" and a "32012" numbered back strap with no visible inspector mark.

Fine as arsenal/factory overhauled, with a mixed gray patina overall and areas of dull arsenal blue finish. The front sight is a replacement. Mild pitting is present on the barrel, cylinder and frame, with some streaking on the frame. Grip is revarnished and repaired, with filler around the frame and front strap, as well as mild pressure dents. Mechanically fine.
