U.S. Civil War Spencer Repeating Carbine
Manufactured between 1863 and 1865, the Spencer Carbine was one of the most popular firearms used by the Union forces in the Civil War. It features a lowered silver blade front sight and adjustable rear sight graduated to 800 yards. The top of the receiver is marked "SPENCER REPEATING / RIFLE CO. BOSTON MASS. / PAT'D. MARCH 6. 1860", with the serial number on the upper rear, and is equipped with the sling bar and ring. Smooth forearm with single barrel band and buttstock with oval cartouche on the left side of the wrist, a diamond shaped silver plate on the right side of the butt, iron buttplate and sling swivel.

Very good plus, with a mixed brown patina on the surface, scattered pitting and handling marks. The front half of the receiver has turned brown, with the rear half turned silver. The buttstock is fine with a clear cartouche. Some weathered chipping is visible on the left side base of the forearm near the receiver, scratches, dents, and discoloration of the finish. Mechanically fine. A very honest, representative example of an original Spencer Civil War carbine.
