Manufactured between 1863 and 1865, approximately 25,000 Model 1863 revolvers were purchased by the U.S. Government. The left side of the frame is marked with the one line address and the right side has the one line patent date. The inspector letters are marked on most major components. The matching serial number is marked on the front of the frame, cylinder and in the hammer cut out with the barrel having an illegible number. Fitted with a smooth one-piece walnut grip with a boxed cartouche on each side.

Good. The revolver has a smooth gray patina with some very scattered light pitting. The grip is also good with large "PD" initials carved on the bottom and some scattered minor handling marks with faint cartouches. Mechanically fine.
