U.S. Cavalry Model Colt Single Action Army Revolver
Manufactured in 1878. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address, the left side of the frame is marked with the three line, three patent dates followed by "U.S.". The bottom of the barrel is marked with an "HN" and "P". The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and backstrap with the "HN" marked above the frame and below the trigger guard number. The cylinder is marked with the partial serial number "8669" and "P". The assembly number "366" is marked on the loading gate and the left side of the hammer is marked "HN". Replacement blade front sight and frame notch rear sight, casehardened frame and hammer with blue on the remaining parts, and fitted with a smooth one piece walnut grip with "1878" stamped on the left side above an oval "JEG" cartouche and "HN" on the bottom right side.

Condition: Very fine as modified, (shortened barrel), with 70% of the original blue finish remaining showing areas of smooth gray patina and some minor dings and scratches. The frame retains 60% original case colors with a smooth mottled gray on the balance, and light pitting. The grip is also very fine with some small minor dings and handling marks and clear cartouche and date. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
