In Convention, Sept 17, 1787. Sir, We have now the honor to submit to the consideration of the United States in Congress assembled, that constitution which has appeared to us the most advisable...[signed in print] George Washington, President...We, the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common Defence...establish this Constitution for the United States of America. ARTICLE 1...Done in Convention, by the unanimous Consent of the States present...New-York. Alexander Hamilton...Pennsylvania. Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Mifflin...Virginia.
