This is an original U.S. Bureau of Internal Revenue seal lock w/ key. The Bureau of Internal Revenue was responsible for enforcement of the Prohibition Amendment in the 1920's. Shipments, containers, and warehouses of illegal alcohol were seized by the B.I.R. during that time. This is a seal lock used by the B.I.R. to secure these locations. A paper seal was placed in the lock. Through the glass, a revenue agent could determine if the lock had been tampered with. The lock was made by Slaymaker and is marked as such. Additionally, it is marked "U.S. B.I.R.". The lock comes with the original key that has a matching number to the lock "7921". The U.S. Bureau of Internal Revenue lock is in good condition and works well. It measures 2.5" x 4".
