US Branch Mint, Carson City, NV Silver Bullion Deposit Archive. This is a magnificent collection of ten different silver bullion deposits at the famous Carson City Mint dated 1890-1904. It also includes secondary paperwork from the Gold Hill Assay Office which submitted the silver to the US Mint on behalf of various companies. In this archive are three 1890 bullion receipts for large silver bars deposited by the Justice Mining Company (Gold Hill) that went through the Gold Hill Assay Office. There are two other 1890 deposits: one the result of running the Washoe Mill tailings and the second from the Nevada Mill, again each having been run through the Gold Hill Assay Office first. Four of the remaining silver bullion receipts (1898-1904) are for varying amounts of amalgam submitted to the Mint for payment. One of these, from 1902, was from Franklin Leonard, Superintendent of the Comstock Tunnel at the time. The silver fineness of the amalgam was generally 400-500 Fine, but some much higher. The remaining receipt was for a sixty ounce bullion bar 810 Fine in silver. The gold on these last five deposits ranged from 048 Fine to 430 Fine. This is an excellent archive showing production during the lean 1890s years. Carson City Nevada Franklin Collection
