U.S. Army Springfield Armory Model 1899 Krag Carbine From the Movie Rough Riders with Actor Tom Bere
Manufactured between 1900 and 1903, this carbine was subsequently used in the 1997 television miniseries "Rough Riders" starring Tom Berenger. The side of the receiver is marked "U.S. / MODEL 1899. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY" next to the serial number. Pinned blade front sight and a rear sight graduated to 2000 yards. The rear sight is correctly marked with the letter "C", indicating a carbine rear sight. The stock is the carbine version with the finger grooves on the sides without the sling bar and ring. The left side of the stock is stamped with a boxed script JSA/1900 cartouche and a circled "P" is stamped behind the trigger guard. The buttplate has a compartment. The included hand written letter from actor Tom Berenger states that this carbine was "carried by a trooper" in the 1997 television miniseries "Rough Riders" and fired live ammunition in training previous to filming. The miniseries starred Tom Berenger as Lt. Col. Theodore Roosevelt. Tom Berenger's name is inscribed on the buttplate.

Good. The barrel has a dark mottled patina with traces of faded original blue finish in the protected areas. The receiver has a mixed gray patina and the buttplate has a mottled brown patina. There is some minor pitting on the barrel, with some deeper pitting on the receiver. Overall there is some minor spotting, with heavier spotting on the barrel near the muzzle. The stock is fine with a couple large pressure dents on the underside of the forearm and some wear from the barrel band, along with some minor dings and scratches. Markings are clear. The action is fine.
