A crafted scale model of the legendary SR-71A Blackbird, representing aircraft serial number 61-7974 Ichi Ban of the 9th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing, based at Kadena Air Base in 1968. Finished in matte black with intricate surface paneling, this model showcases accurate cockpit windows, fully detailed landing gear, and twin-engine nacelles. U.S. Air Force insignia, tail codes, and identification numbers are faithfully reproduced, along with stencil markings and unit insignia across the fuselage and wings. The underside reveals meticulously rendered landing bays and engine exhausts, while the overall design captures the distinctive delta wing and dual vertical stabilizers that define the Blackbird's iconic profile. Of particular note is the historical connection, on April 21, 1989, when SR-71, AF Ser. No. 61-7974, was tragically lost following an engine explosion after takeoff from Kadena - marking the final Blackbird ever lost in service.
