U.S. Army model 1842 blackpowder percussion pistol made by Ira.N. Johnson in 1854, 10,000 were made between 1852-1855 at the Palmetto Armory in Columbia South Carolina.A 54 caliber smooth bore single shot with an 8 ½ “ barrel. Inspectors initial “JOB” AND “P” for Palmetto. U.S. marked above inspectors initials. AA single brass blade front sight with a walnut stock is ¾ length, 11” long with inspectors initials stamped on the left side. It has a swivel type ramrod with button shaped head . the gun is finished with visible inspector cartouche on the left side . An excellent Johnson U.S. pistol in extremely good shape worthy of any high end collection. State: City: Date: ID#45768
