U. Calenti Signed, Engraved and Gold Inlaid Antonio Zoli Christopher Columbus Commemorative Over/Under Shotgun with Case and Documents

This shotgun was crafted by Antonio Zoli in cooperation with the Naval Museum of Genoa and authorized by the United States Historical Society. This shotgun commemorates the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' discovery of America and is a limited edition of only 200 shotguns. There is floral scroll engraving on the receiver, side plates, trigger guard, forearm hardware and break lever. There are also gold highlighted scenes on the side plates and receiver. The left side shows the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria sailing in the ocean along with a map. The right side shows Christopher Columbus on shore with a flag and a sword with his ship anchored in the background along with a bust of Christopher Columbus. The underside shows two eagles along with the family crest of Christopher Columbus. The trigger guard has "06/200" highlighted in gold. The barrels have a white bead front sight, are threaded for choke tubes with improved cylinder/improved modified installed, have 3 inch chambers with ejectors, are inlaid in gold "ANTONIO ZOLI" on the left side and "U.S. HISTORICAL SOCIETY" on the right side. Mounted on a nicely figured Turkish walnut forearm with fine line checkering and a Schnabel tip, and a straight grip stock with bare checkered butt. With a leather covered hardcase, 3 extra choke tubes, a choke wrench, a certificate of authenticity and a receipt showing the original purchase price was $10,000.

Excellent. The barrels retain virtually all of the original blue finish showing some mild wear under the forearm from normal usage. The upper tang shows some discoloration and a scratch is present on the left side plate, otherwise the remaining coin finished parts remain bright. The wood is also excellent with a few minor handling marks and overall very crisp checkering. All of the gold inlay remains and the engraving is crisp. Mechanically excellent. The case is excellent.
