Lot of 11 metal signs recovered from various German U-boats. Includes: an enameled engine control panel from a conning tower, marked in German with all the necessary engine speeds and settings, reads at bottom: "Kriegsmarinewerft Wilhelmshaven" ("Naval Shipyard Wilhelmshaven"), the main base of the U-boat fleet throughout the war; plaque from a voltage regulator, approx. 5 1/2" long, curved along its length; variometer label, 3 1/2" x 1", marked: "Stosskreis-Variometer", also marked "U-118" in felt-tip pen; two other plaques from U-118, 4" x 1" and 6" x 1", labeling other instruments from the boat; Torpedo tube plaque, 4" x 1", taken from U-30; Siemens-Schuckert plaque from an electric generator, 5 1/2" x 2 1/4"; Siemens-Schuckert engine tag, 4 1/4" x 2 1/2", consisting of two superimposed letters "S". Recovered from a U-boat sunk off of Greenland; brass tag, 2" x 1/2", bearing the name of a U-boat crew member: "F. H. Yonker"; key tag from the diesel engine room of U-1209, 3" x 1/2"; metal sign from a Hamburg U-boat dry dock, 7 1/2" x 5 1/2": "Achtung! Rohr 4 ist bewassert" ("Attention! Pipe 4 is flooded"). Two holes present at top, with wire attached to both. A rare collection of relics. Includes a COA from The War Museum, a private non-profit foundation which has provided items for exhibition to the Smithsonian Institution, the Intrepid Air and Space Museum, the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, and the U.S.S. Constitution, among many others.
