U-BOAT SAILOR'S SOLDBUCH AND A WATCH BOOK
Kriegsmarine "soldbuch" issued to U-boat sailor Adam Muller who is shown in uniform on the inside front cover. The soldbuch, stamped with a large red "U" and issued June 10, 1941, indicates that he was born in 1921 in Erlangen. Muller was a machinist and was awarded a U-boat badge and Iron Cross, 2nd Class in 1942. Other entries show training, clothing issued (including tropical), leaves granted, etc.. The last date entered is in late December, 1943 when Muller is granted leave for the holidays, after which his fate is unknown. WITH: an "Observation Book" owned by an unidenfiable engineer aboard U-873, published by the Kriegsmarine in Kiel, 1943, only four or five pages filled in, with a separate page of notes on oil pressures, etc. Provenance: TIME-LIFE Collection, The War Museum.
