Excellent association I.S.P. 12 1/2" x 10" overall, depicts six U-boats in a straight line while underway. The verso is inscribed by Capt. HANS-GUNTHER LOOF (1906-1940). He writes: "To the commander of 'U-21' Kapitanleutnant Frauenheim in remembrance of his old boat and the beautiful old times with the Weddigen Flotilla..." with a bold signature and adding rank. Mount bears a few stains, else very good. Loof commanded four U-boats, including U-122 which disappeared June 22, 1940 and was presumed sunk by ramming or depth charge attack. Kptlt. Fritz Frauenheim commanded U-21 in four war patrols from Oct. 1, 1937 to Jan. 6, 1940 and sank 19 ships for a total of 78,853 GRT. With a 11" x 14" photo of a fine drawing of Frauenheim and a creased photo of him with four other officers.
