Tyrone Power Personal Photos & Signed Card
Tyrone Power Personal Photos & Signed Card - The other-worldly handsome and talented Hollywood icon Tyrone Power could have any woman in the world. However through most of his adult life, even with three marriages, his true love was Evie Wynn Johnson, who became wife of both actors Keenan Wynn and Van Johnson. He was very open about his infatuation with Evie, and would shower her with gifts, and notes and letters expressing his love. However, being the class act he was, Tyrone always kept these sweet bangs slightly numbed, so as not to appear to much of a "masher" to her two husbands. However, Evie saved everything he sent, and they remained the closest of friends until his untimely death. Tyrone would also come often to Evie's house for parties, and family celebrations. This is a carefully selected set of photos culled from Evie Johnson's personal collection of cherished Tyrone photos. They include a snapshot of Ty lounging around their pool, another larger photo of Ty with his second wife, and rare color photo of Ty with Evie and Marilyn Morrison (famous singer and songwriter Johnnie Ray's wife), and a very telling large photo of Evie sitting on a couch with husband Van Johnson on one side, and Ty on the other, with Ty about to "eat her alive"! It also includes a bittersweet special card. In 1958, Ty married Deborah Ann Minardos. She became pregnant soon after. Just before he was about to leave for Spain to film "Solomon and Sheba", he came to Evie's house for a "farewell" dinner, and gave her a card. It had a drawing of a naked woman on the front with the caption: "Public opinion no longer worries me". His point was he didn't care who knew of his long running "crush" on Evie. Inside he handwrote: "Love & Kisses", and it was signed by both himself and his wife, Debbie (as if to say she understood). That was the last time Evie was to see him. During the end of production in Spain he was filming a dueling scene with co-star George Sanders and had a massive heart attack. He died before reaching the hospital. So this card is one of the very last correspondence, perhaps the last signature of his. There are 25 original personal photos in all. They come directly from Van Johnson's personal collection, and includes a Letter of Provenience from the Johnson’s daughter, Schuyler Johnson along with a copy of her famous controversial cover story article “My Life As A Hollywood Princess”, about her trials and tribulations growing up in Beverly Hills with a superstar father and extended “family” with some of the most famous celebrities in the world.
